Wedding Favour Ideas for Your Dearly Loved Guests
It is customary for newly-wedded couples to bestow their guests with gifts as a token of gratitude for being part of their special day. Wedding favors traditionally consisted of sweet treats like candied fruits and almonds, but nowadays these can be anything of significance to the newlywed couple and perhaps specific guests.
It is traditional for newly married couples to give confectionery to their dear guests as an expression of their sweet love for each other and for their family and friends. Dragées and candy-coated almonds were the wedding favor of choice by as early as the 13th century. Nonpareils or tiny sugar beads with metallic finish and simulate pearls eventually became popular. Variants of these candies can be candy shell-covered chocolates with various shapes like beads, buttons, hearts, or eggs.
Some couples prefer something unique for their wedding and opt for tiny chocolate tablets wrapped in stationery with customized messages. Some of these are chocolate balls wrapped in metallic foil to simulate nonpareils. Others opt for alternatives such as rock candies or colorful sugar cubes. Occasionally, these candies are scented with floral fragrances.
To add a complex twist to their wedding favours, some newlyweds come up with special gifts for their very special guests. For example, the bride may prepare a selection of handpicked gifts for her bridesmaids such as jewelry, fans, candles, bags, etc. Some brides give out souvenirs like tiaras or bouquets to pass on their good fortune to unmarried female friends. Lucky sixpence coins and horseshoes are also popular presents for bridesmaids and groomsmen to invite good luck; crooked sixpence coin and iron horseshoes, on the other hand, are believed to ward off bad luck.
